Maybe FOOD in Lebanon is the most thing we enjoy (after family time for sure).
But I really miss my kitchen and kids need to have homemade meals.
So here is the first recipe for 2021,
“Bulgur B Dfin”
An authentic Lebanese dish, made of bulgur, chickpeas, onions and meat chunks with a pinch of cinnamon. It brings a lot of childhood memories, especially at my grandparents home. Some people call it “Moghrabiye kezzebe” or fake moghrabiye, since they have almost the same flavors.
P.S: You can skip the meat and make it vegan.
Ingredients
-
2 cups bulgur
-
2 cups boiled chickpeas
-
500g small onions
-
500g lamb chunks
-
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
-
2.5 cups meat & onion stock
-
salt (as desired)
Directions
-
Start by boiling the meat.
-
Peel onions, sauté and boil them.
-
Sauté chickpeas with a Tablespoon of vegetable oil, add bulgur (very well washed), cinnamon and salt.
-
Few minutes later, add meat and onions stock, bring to boil, cover and let it cook on low heat.
-
Serve with a side salad and yogurt.
Enjoy 🙂
